Summerfield is a Guilford County town of about 11,100 people spread across 26 square miles of large lots northwest of Greensboro, roughly 15 miles from High Point. Compared with much of the Triad it is newer and more rural: half its homes postdate 2000, and 97% are single-family on their own parcels.
Why there's no single install number
We don't post one price for Summerfield because the scope varies widely across its roughly 3,800 occupied homes. These are the variables.
Fuel available at the property
Only about 38% of homes use piped natural gas. Electricity heats 52%, propane about 5%, and fuel oil about 1%. A house on a gas main can take a straightforward gas furnace swap; a propane house needs an LP-converted burner; an all-electric house usually points to a heat pump.
Two systems, not one
Bigger two-story Summerfield houses frequently run a separate system per floor. Replacing one or both changes the scope considerably.
Attic or crawlspace equipment
Air handlers in hot attics or furnaces in tight crawlspaces take more labor to remove and set than a unit in a basement or garage.
Dual-fuel controls
Pairing a heat pump with a propane or gas furnace requires compatible controls and an outdoor temperature sensor so the system switches fuels at the right point.
Duct condition
Ductwork that is 20-plus years old in a vented crawlspace or attic may need sealing or partial replacement.
Who sells it
Northern Guilford projects are scheduled through High Point. Furnace Direct, a DBA of Hamlin Mechanical LLC, sources units straight from makers.
When and how to start
Shoulder seasons (spring, autumn) offer the best scheduling. Know whether you have gas, propane, or all-electric service and how many systems the house has, then phone (888) 762-1334 and say Call for Pricing.
