Fresh-Aire UV Germicidal Air Treatment System
About this product
UV light destroys mold, bacteria, and viruses as they pass through your ductwork. Reduces musty smells, allergens, and the biofilm that builds up on your evaporator coil — cleaner air, fewer sick days, and a longer AC equipment life.
What it does
UV-C germicidal lamp installed inside your HVAC ductwork, downstream of the evaporator coil. As air circulates, the UV light inactivates mold spores, bacteria, and viruses on contact. Also prevents biofilm buildup on the evaporator coil, which improves AC efficiency.
Why you'll want it
- Reduces mold, bacteria, and virus concentration in circulated air
- Eliminates the musty smell common in FL and humid climates
- Prevents biofilm on the evaporator coil — cleaner coil = better cooling efficiency
- Especially valuable for allergy sufferers, asthma patients, and households with pets
- Two tiers: Blue Tube (essentials) or APCO-X (UV + PCO ionization for VOC reduction)
Installation
Mounted inside the return or supply duct, plenum, or air handler cabinet. Requires 120V power outlet within 6 feet. A licensed HVAC technician should install — typical time is 1-2 hours. Bulb replacement every 2 years ($50-80).

Common questions
Blue Tube ($195) is a pure UV-C sterilizer — kills germs on surfaces the light can see. APCO-X ($598) adds PCO (photocatalytic oxidation) ionization that treats airborne VOCs and odors too. APCO-X is the premium choice for homes with pets, smokers, or chemical sensitivities.
Every 2 years for the Blue Tube. Bulbs cost $50-80 and take 5 minutes to swap.
Yes — the light is fully contained inside the ductwork. Safety interlock cuts power if the cover is opened. You'll never see the bulb during normal operation.

What customers are saying
Saved $2,400 vs local contractor
Got quoted $9,200 from a local HVAC contractor for a furnace replacement. Found Furnace Direct and got the exact same Goodman unit for under $5k delivered. My installer couldn't believe the price and installed it in one day. Runs perfectly.
Fast shipping, exactly as described
Ordered on a Tuesday, pallet arrived Friday. Unit was packed well, no damage, all factory sealed. Andrew answered my sizing question over the phone and got me the right model. Couldn't be happier with the purchase.
Installer said same one he'd buy at supply house
My HVAC guy said he pays basically the same price at his wholesale supply house. The markup contractors add is insane. Furnace Direct cut the middleman out entirely. Will recommend to everyone I know.
Heating my 2,200 sq ft home perfectly
Installed my 96% AFUE furnace a couple months ago. Heats my 2,200 sq ft home perfectly, and my gas bill dropped noticeably compared to the old unit. Great product, great price, great experience from start to finish.
Saved enough to pay for the install
Math was simple: 3 contractor quotes all over $8k. Furnace Direct plus local installer was under $5,500 total. Saved enough to basically pay for the install myself. Quality is identical to what contractors charge a fortune for.
No-pressure, honest pricing
Called a few HVAC companies first — every single one wanted to schedule an "in-home consultation" before giving me a price. Furnace Direct just showed me the price. Bought online, shipped next day, done. This is how it should work.
