Pick HRV or ERV in Eagan with five yes/no gates

Furnace Direct installs both cores in Eagan. We do not sell equipment a la carte — this page exists to choose the right core before the crew shows up.

Gate 1 — Do bedroom windows fog after cold snaps?

1. YES — glass weeps on Diffley, Lexington, or north bedroomsMark HRV. Heat recovery that rejects indoor moisture is the default fix when sealing upgrades trapped January humidity.
2. NO — glass stays clear but air feels aridLean ERV so outdoor air does not strip the last of your winter moisture.

Gate 2 — Did you (or a prior owner) replace windows or air-seal the attic?

1. YES — vinyl windows, spray foam, or dense-pack since ~2010Mechanical ventilation is no longer optional. Combine with Gate 1: fog → HRV, desert-dry → ERV.
2. NO — original 80s/90s leaky envelope still mostly intactYou may still benefit from recovery ventilation, but symptoms matter more than year built. Continue.

Gate 3 — Is the home a townhome or campus-adjacent attached product?

1. YES — shared walls near Yankee Doodle / Pilot Knob employment spineNoise and short duct runs matter. Core type still follows humidity: muggy cooking odors → HRV; static shocks in sealed units → ERV.
2. NO — detached two-story or ranchProceed to Gate 4 with more flexibility on outdoor termination locations.

Gate 4 — Winter indoor RH reading (if you have one)

1. Above ~45% in January with heat runningStrong HRV signal for Eagan stock.
2. Under ~25% and people wake with dry sinusesStrong ERV signal — especially post-2010 plats toward Inver Grove / Farmington edge.
3. No hygrometer yetUse Gates 1–3. We can lend a read during quote follow-up.

Gate 5 — Are you replacing a failing air exchanger?
