LaBelle is the Hendry County seat, a riverfront city of about 5,200 some 45 miles from our Naples hub. A quarter of its homes (25%) are manufactured, 65% are detached houses, and the median build year is 1987.
Inland heat
Away from Gulf breezes, summer afternoons run hot, and an air conditioner in LaBelle works long hours from spring into fall. Ninety-four percent of households rely on electric heat as well, so one piece of equipment carries the whole year.
Site-built homes: three upgrade paths
- Like-for-like condenser and coil, the simplest route.
- Moving to a heat pump to cut winter strip-heat use.
- Adding a variable-speed air handler for steadier temperatures and drier air.
If you live in a manufactured home
About one LaBelle household in four does. Those homes take packaged or specially certified split equipment, and the trunk line under the floor is often crushed by years of critters and settling. Have someone crawl under and look before buying.
Citrus-country dust and pollen
Surrounded by groves and pasture, LaBelle homes pull in more airborne debris than coastal condos. Plan on a filter rack that accepts a deeper media filter and on rinsing the outdoor coil each spring.
